In November of last year I started a 5 week healing circle. Unlike the healing events that are open to public, I wanted this to be a chance for the regular healers of Club O to bond and mutually support each other. Actually, in the beginning I thought I would be the one helping each individual tackling their current life challenge, but what evolved was something much more egalitarian, and drew upon the resources that we had within the group.
In the end, healing can be as simple as having the space to be heard and be loved and recognised. We had people within the group that had wisdom and life-experience beyond mine: as mothers, as wives, as a man... and in the period of upheaval, it was very very nourishing.
I have been part of a couple of healing circles, and part of the challenge is to try to schedule them. Because life has a way of intervening. So there has to be some sort of intentionality: for the next five weeks I would like to commit to being part of this.
In February I am experimenting with a different, slightly looser form with what we had. The emphasis this time is more on a 1:1 matching between healers -- here's your playdate for the week, go create an experience that draws upon the wisdom that you both hold to nourish each other. This is both great for healers to come into contact with expertise that they most need, and for a chance to try out new things before charging people money for it. For healers who have learnt many disciplines (which is, most of us...), this is a great chance to integrate what they have learnt to develop their own unique brand of healing.
I will hold the collective gatherings once ever other week; because this sort of check-in is nourishing and fun as well. And last time, we ended up in nature for our final gathering and had lunch together. Because what's better than sharing food and napping and enjoying other's company?
